Why Sol?’

The name Sol comes from the quiet beauty of Santa Barbara sunrises and sunsets — moments that mark transition, warmth, and reflection. Just as the sun rises and sets each day, Sol is about honoring life’s natural rhythms and endings with gentleness and respect.

About Sol

Sol is a veterinary hospice and in-home euthanasia practice created to support pets and the people who love them through life’s final transitions.

This work exists in the space between medicine and meaning — where comfort matters more than cure, where time slows, and where families deserve to feel supported rather than rushed. At Sol, care is centered on presence, honesty, and gentleness, with the goal of preserving quality of life and honoring each pet’s story.

Sol offers hospice support, quality-of-life guidance, and peaceful in-home euthanasia for dogs and cats. Care is tailored to each pet and each family — their needs, their values, and their pace. There is no pressure, no urgency, and no single “right time,” only thoughtful support and compassionate guidance.

Behind Sol is Dr. Victoria Ryan, a veterinarian with experience in human oncology, military service, and a deep affection for senior pets. It is an honor to serve our amazing community and to help families navigate these moments with clarity, dignity, and care.

If Sol feels like the right fit for your family, you’re welcome to reach out. You don’t need certainty — just a place to begin.
